England starlet Michelle Agyemang has been nominated for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year after a breakout 2025 with the Lionesses.
There are three stars nominated for this year’s BBC Young Sports Personality:
2025 was a near-perfect year for Michelle Agyemang, who broke into the England team with some eye-catching performances.
The 19-year-old received her first international call-up in April and scored just 41 seconds after making her debut against Belgium.
At Euro 2025 the teenager got her first taste of competitive action for the Lionesses and she hasn’t looked back.
Agyemang netted two clutch equalisers for the Lionesses – one in the quarter-final against Sweden and another in the ensuing semi-final against Italy.
After two goals to save her country from certain elimination, Agyemang was named young player of the tournament in Switzerland.
The Arsenal forward was also amongst the first-ever Kopa nominees at the Ballon d’Or and shortly after she was crowned Europe’s Golden Girl for 2025.
Speaking on her nomination, Agyemang said: “Being on the shortlist for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour. I thank God and I’m appreciative of the support I’ve received from my family, coaches, teammates and fans. I appreciate you all.”
After such an impressive summer, Michelle Agyemang came crashing back down to earth. A devastating injury for the forward at the start of the new season sent shockwaves through the football community.
The teenage sensation returned to Brighton after the Euros, once again on loan from Arsenal.
But Brighton barely got to see their loanee in action, as Agyemang ruptured her ACL during a friendly for England against Australia in October.
The Lioness has already began her recovery process however it is unlikely we will see Agyemang again this season.
