Boro's 2-1 win over West Brom on Friday night ensured Edwards' side have recorded the club's best ever league start.
Middlesbrough have made their best ever start to a league campaign in their 149-year history with a 2-1 win over West Brom on Friday night, and Boro fans are all saying the same thing about Rob Edwards.
It was a landmark evening on the banks of the River Tees, as Middlesbrough stretched their unbeaten run to six league games.
Never before have Boro won five of their opening six league fixtures, and although a late goal from Aune Heggebo threatened to keep that run going for another term, a pair of first Middlesbrough goals from David Strelec and Kaly Sene were enough to seal yet another three vital points.
It was a win that sent Boro four points clear at the top ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures, with attentions now turning towards a tough away trip to Southampton next Saturday as the Edwards revolution marches on.
Middlesbrough are top of the Championship table after six games on merit, but that isn't to say they've had it all their own way in every game so far.
Far from it, in fact, as has been the case in their previous two clashes against Preston North End and West Brom respectively.
Boro twice had to come from behind at Deepdale in the first game after the September international break, as Paul Heckingbottom's side frustrated the Teessiders despite conceding the lion's share of the possession to the visitors.
Indeed, after Jordan Storey headed home with 88 minutes on the clock, it looked certain Middlesbrough were going to taste defeat for the first time under Edwards in the league, but two minutes into added time, a wonderfully executed scissor kick from Sontje Hansen eventually found its way into the North End net.
So despite Boro not being at their best that afternoon, a valuable point was bagged and their unbeaten start protected, and that would again be the case on Friday evening at the Riverside.
Indeed, Edwards' side spent large periods of the game having to soak up Albion pressure, with Boro's backline repelling pretty much every cross and attacking move Ryan Mason's men threw at them.
West Brom actually finished the game with 59 per cent possession, but despite only recording nine shots with just four on target, Boro were clinical when they needed to be, with their two strikes allowing their well-organised defensive structure to see them through.
In short, Middlesbrough are finding ways to win games and pick up precious points even when they aren't at their free-flowing, dominant best, and that's always the sign of a very good team.
The appointment of Edwards to replace Michael Carrick looks a masterstroke from the Middlesbrough hierarchy, but the former Luton Town boss had his fair share of skeptics on Teesside upon his arrival.
That was understandable too, as despite his well-documented success with the Hatters, it was also true that the way his Kenilworth Road story ended was worrying, and certainly alarming from a Boro perspective.
However, the way his team are playing on the pitch, the summer transfer window they enjoyed, and the connection he's built and is still building with the Riverside faithful, has turned the vast majority of those skeptics into believers.
"Rob Edwards. I still sit here and laugh at those a few months back - moaning at his appointment," one Boro fan wrote in response to a social media post from Middlesbrough's official X account marking the club's best ever league start.
"I appreciate this has been mentioned a few times, but I don’t think it’s been celebrated enough. BEST. START. EVER. Bit of early recognition for the immense job Edwards and his staff have done since their arrival. It’s been some turnaround in mood that’s for sure," said another delighted Middlesbrough supporter.
Another Teessider said: "Delighted to put my hands up and say I was wrong. I thought it was the wrong decision to let go of Carrick and was underwhelmed by his appointment but my word what a start. Seems to be a great fit for the club and a great team around him. Let’s hope the great form continues."
"Like many others was so underwhelmed by this appointment at the time. How wrong we were, we look solid, we have so many attacking options, and the bond between club and fans right now. Place is unreal," commented another.
"Mate I am happy to admit I was one of them. Wanted him nowhere near this club. Thought it was a cheap appointment and a job for a mate type thing. Would run through a brick wall for him now. Shows how much I know," remarked another Middlesbrough fan.
