He is among the top goalscorers in League One.
Middlesbrough are amongst a cohort of clubs vying for promotion to the Premier League, with just a handful of games remaining of the close season.
Since their form has dropped off, it looks increasingly like Kim Hellberg's side will have to settle for the play-offs, meaning they are even further away from knowing what division they will be competing in next season.
Given their current predicament, Boro could be forgiven if they have their summer transfer plans on hold, although, like Sunderland did last year, they would be wise to plan for all possible scenarios.
However, several second-tier clubs have already earmarked a League One talent as a credible summer signing, and he is one that Middlesbrough are being told to pursue.

While Middlesbrough have produced some respectable numbers in front of goal, it is an area that could do with strengthening over the summer window.
One man who could be a worthy addition is Plymouth Argyle forward Lorent Tolaj, who is attracting interest from Norwich City, Stoke City and Swansea City.
When asked if his club should join the race for the 24-year-old as an upgrade on the likes of Tommy Conway and David Strelec, FLW's Boro fan pundit Liam Day was in no doubt.
"He's definitely one that we should be looking at," he told Football League World.
"There's been quite a bit of success coming up from League One striker-wise, and I think we create plenty of chances for any striker.
"He's big, tall, physical presence, good goal-scoring record, and pretty much at a perfect age, where, if he does well, and we don't go up, you can sell him on for a bigger profit, which we like to do.
"If he does well and gets us up, that's even better, isn't it? So, I think he'd be perfect. I think we're missing quite a big physical presence up front, and I think he'd offer that.
"From what I've seen of him, he looks like a good player, and I definitely think he should be one we should be looking at because I don't think he'd be too expensive either."

While Tolaj has been delivering some superb performances in League One, it is understandable that Boro may wait until their campaign is over before pursuing him.
If the Teeside club do reach the Premier League, then no disrespect to the Plymouth hitman, but they will need to target strikers of a much higher standing.
Doing that will prove challenging, however, as signing a prolific forward usually comes at a significant price, but Middlesbrough would have the pick of the Championship at least.
However, if Hellberg's side do remain in the second tier, then a potential deal for Tolaj would certainly be one they should consider.
The Swiss is among the highest scorers in the third tier and has already bagged 20 goals in all competitions, while his goal and assist tallies further down the footballing pyramid are admirable.
Tolaj is a player who has proven himself at every level of English football that he has played, and while a move to the Championship is beckoning, it may not be to the Riverside Stadium.
