Real Madrid are focusing on exits for the time being, and one player that has been linked with a move away is Thiago Pitarch. The teenage midfielder was a standout during the second half of last season, although there is no guarantee that he will have a place in Jose Mourinho’s squad for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
Pitarch impressed after being promoted to the first team in March, but with Bernardo Silva having now been signed, there is every chance that he does not have a place in the senior squad – especially considering that Mourinho also has the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham to choose from.
Furthermore, Pitarch has been attracting interest from La Liga newcomers Malaga, although it has been reported by Sport that he wants to remain as a Real Madrid player above all else, which is why he is not looking to leave at this stage.
Pitarch does have chances to stay in the Real Madrid first team this summer, given that Dani Ceballos has already left. Furthermore, there are no longer plans for a new midfielder to be signed, meaning there will not be any new competition for places, although that may not be enough for Mourinho to rule in his favour.
Mourinho will make his decision on Pitarch during pre-season. The teenage is currently enjoying a much-needed rest after helping Spain win the U19 Euros last weekend, but he will soon return to Valdebebas with the hope of doing enough to convince his manager that he can be of value to the first team during the 2026-27 season.
It’s clear that Pitarch has outgrown Castilla, so if he does not secure a first team place, he will leave Real Madrid this summer. A loan is most likely, although it cannot be ruled out that a sale with a sell-on/buy-back clause is also considered.
