Miedema wins January Etihad Player of the Month | OneFootball

Your votes mean Vivianne Miedema has been named Etihad Player of the Month for January.

The Dutch international saw off the sizeable challenge of Jade Rose and Lauren Hemp to claim the award, with just under 5,000 votes cast.

Miedema grabbed three goals and one assist across our four January outings, having also been shortlisted for December’s award.

She began the month by completing the scoring in a hard-fought 2-0 win over Everton at the Joie Stadium, latching on to Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s lofted pass before firing home.

Her scoring form continued in the FA Cup fourth round victory over AFC Bournemouth, with Miedema coming off the bench to grab a brace.

The first saw the Dutch forward in the right place at the right time to tap home from close-range, with her second a stinging left-footed drive as City ran out 6-0 winners.

Miedema then turned provider for Kerolin in our final January fixture, with her pinpoint pass sending the Brazilian in behind for our opener in a 2-1 WSL win at London City Lionesses.

Only team-mate Kerstin Casparij has provided more assists than our number ten in the WSL this season, and she’s also third when it comes to overall chances created.

And having headed home our fifth and final goal in a 5-1 win over Chelsea to start February, Miedema could be in the running once again for February’s award if she continues her fine run of form.
