Miguel Ángel Corona’s position at Panathinaikos has weakened less than a year after his arrival, with his status reduced amid talk of dismissal following a difficult spell at Valencia.
SDNA and Sportal reported that claims he has been dismissed are unfounded, and the club has not confirmed any sacking. They added that his influence has diminished and a change cannot be ruled out over the summer.
Corona was hired as sporting director, then months later the club appointed Stefanos Kotsolis to that role. The Spaniard was moved to technical adviser with a limited remit.
On Sunday, a Spanish journalist said Panathinaikos had decided to dismiss him. That has not been confirmed and was contradicted by Greek outlets.
For now he remains in post with reduced responsibilities and outside central decision-making. No decision has been taken on his future, which could still shift over the summer, and one report said the sacking claim lacked any factual basis.
