Paris Saint-Germain have entered discussions with Ajax over 21-year-old winger Mika Godts after a breakout return of 17 goals and 12 assists. According to L'Équipe, the Belgian has emerged as a target.
Having debuted for Ajax in April 2023, Godts married his dribbling with end product last season. Ajax still finished fifth, but he was named Young Player of the Year, with Ismael Saibari taking the main prize.
A 25-metre strike against Utrecht and a slaloming solo against Breda in April evoked Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s famous Ajax goal 22 years earlier. Godts later suggested his was prettier from a standing start and joked he would cost whatever a fool would pay, even 75 million.
Scrutiny has followed. He was accused in Belgium of snubbing the under-21s, which he and the federation said was due to injury, and Wesley Sneijder criticised him in the Netherlands after a missed Champions League chance. He posted one assist as Ajax ranked 32nd of 36, then produced a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with PSV in May.
First capped in March, he was left out of the World Cup, with Rudi Garcia citing strong left-side competition from Leandro Trossard and Jérémy Doku. Godts wrote that he did not understand the call but would move on, and a PSG move, if completed, could help a Nations League recall in September.
