Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that Gabriel is in a race against time to be fit for their clash with West Ham on Saturday.
The Gunners travel to east London for the late kick off tomorrow but they could do so without the Brazilian defender.
The towering centre-back didn't train on Thursday but Arteta insisted he will have to "wait and see" whether Gabriel will be fit for the game against the Hammers.
Arteta was also asked to comment on Pep Guardiola and Manchester City's recent slump in form, with the former assistant admitting: "That’s something very personal. I feel a lot of sympathy for all my colleagues.
"I know how we get judged for one thing which is results. I know how difficult it is.
"What I’ve made of it is what they’ve done for nine years.
"Everybody has a bump. For them it’s very strange because in nine years they never had it. Everything has to be perfect and things have to go your way."
Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
