Spain needed a response in their second group game and delivered, scoring three inside the first half hour. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring with his first goal of the tournament, shortly before Oyarzabal added the second.

After a scramble following a miscue from Dani Olmo, Aymeric Laporte headed across. The 29-year-old finished with the outside of his foot from close range to give Spain a two-goal lead.

A little over two minutes later, the Real Sociedad player struck again. From an aerial ball from the right, Marc Cucurella cut back for Olmo, whose first-time header arced to the back post, where Oyarzabal tapped into an empty net.

His double arrived in about two minutes 30 seconds, still some way off the World Cup best. The fastest brace remains Toni Kroos’s, two goals in 69 seconds in the 2014 semi-finals.
