Italian fiscal police have searched Milan council offices as part of an investigation into the sale of San Siro. About a dozen people are under suspicion.

Reuters reports that Tuesday morning raids by the Guardia di Finanza targeted the council, stadium operator M-I Stadio, which is owned by the two clubs, and former councillors’ homes, with phones and computers seized.

Those investigated are suspected of hindering competition and divulging professional secrets during the municipality’s transfer of San Siro to M-I Stadio. They include municipal councillors and former Inter and AC Milan executives and consultants.

The sale to Inter and AC Milan was approved on 5 November 2025. It has remained contentious since.

The €197 million agreement covered the stadium, which will be demolished and rebuilt in 2031, and surrounding areas earmarked for offices and sports facilities. The inquiry is focused on that redevelopment, amid claims some private construction firms were favoured at the expense of the public interest.
