Zvonimir Boban strongly criticised the Milan management, saying they don’t understand football, but President Paolo Scaroni hit back: ‘Did he talk about himself?’

Boban, a former Milan player and director, recently released an explosive interview in which he openly criticised the club’s management, especially President Scaroni, saying he should not be in football.

Scaroni attended a Lega Serie A meeting at CONI on Wednesday before the Coppa Italia Final and was asked his thoughts on Boban’s recent claims.

As reported by TMW, Scaroni was specifically asked what he thought about Boban saying that the Milan executives don’t understand football.

“Did he talk about himself?” Scaroni replied sarcastically.

The Milan President seemed to confirm that he once asked for Boban’s resume: “It’s only fair,” he said.

The Rossoneri President admitted that tonight’s Coppa Italia Final is “decisive” and hoped for “the best” outcome against Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico.

Milan have not won the Coppa Italia since 2003, but have already lifted one trophy this season, the Supercoppa Italiana in January.

What Boban said about Scaroni

“A person who should never be in football. He has nothing to do with football,” Boban told Longoni’s YouTube channel ‘Milan Hello’ via SempreMilan.

“But you know, certain people, because of the power they have had and the positions they have had, have never really asked themselves deeply.

“They have never created that spiritual structure to ask themselves: is it right for me to go there? Because obviously it goes towards interests. But Milan?… He has nothing to do with Milan. Even though he is still a great manager, he has had great successes.”

Boban had agreement to sign Szoboszlai

“The deal with Szoboszlai was finalised in Innsbruck. Paolo [Maldini] didn’t come with me because he was afraid of being recognised. Massara and I met his father. It was all done,” Boban said during the same interview.

“Szoboszlai wanted to join us immediately, but it was denied. I had to tell: ‘Look, let’s aim for the summer,’ but he was devastated, he wanted to come to Milan immediately. He’s not world-class, but he’s very good. In my mind, he was a No.8, and he could become a great deep-lying playmaker with time.”
