Milan intend to significantly fortify their roster in the summer ahead of their UEFA Champions League return. They are kicking the tires on several defenders. They will have to find a compromise between Massimiliano Allegri’s requests and the hierarchy’s vision.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the coach prefers adding a veteran who has already played in Serie A. Kim Min-Jae is one of his favorite targets. He hasn’t been a fixture as he imagined at Bayern Munich, appearing 105 times in nearly 3 seasons. On the other hand, he’s 28, he’s worth about €30M, and his wages are robust.
Per TuttoSport (via Mediaset), Milan have been impressed by the recent performances of Mariano Troilo, who has eventually proven to be a starting-caliber player in Serie A. He joined the Ducali for €7.2M. The talent scored against the Rossoneri at San Siro. Acquiring him would recall what they did with Jens-Peter Hauge a few years back.
The San Siro-based team is in a tricky spot, as it’s not easy nor cheap to improve what has been one of the best defenses in Europe, Calciomercato reports. It has conceded the fewest goals in the top five leagues so far.
Mario Gila remains in the lead, given his age, somewhat modest price tag, and contractual situation. The Rossoneri are expected to probe also Federico Gatti, Radu Dragusin, Nathan Aké, and Joe Gomez.
While they were uncertain about a three or four-man defense last summer, there should be no doubt entering the next window, unless they go for a super-duper no.9. They should arguably add both a veteran and a starlet, but that would likely come at the expense of other roles.
