Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has indicated Federico Gatti as his favorite option to shore up the Milan defense, and the management will try to acquire him in January, even though he’s not for sale for Juventus. In addition, his contract expires in 2030, solidifying his price tag, Mediaset informs.

According to La Repubblica, the Rossoneri will attempt to persuade the counterparty by proposing a trade, perhaps offering Samuele Ricci. He hasn’t had a prominent role since moving to San Siro for €23M last summer. Plus, Ardon Jashari recently returned from a major leg injury.

He was signed from Genoa for €20M in the summer, but he hasn’t managed to become a regular and has mostly struggled when called upon. The Bianconeri could be interested, as he is a homegrown product, which helps with the lists.

As for the Italian international, he’s currently on the mend due to a meniscus tear. He has appeared 14 times this season, scoring twice. He has started in most instances, although he’s been an unused sub four times.

The Rossoneri surely need a quality and versatile defender, and he fits the bill. With his ruggedness and so-so technique, he’s arguably a better fit for Allegri’s style rather than Luciano Spalletti’s. The Old Lady has never been whole defensively, considering his and Gleison Bremer’s injuries, but it’ll be interesting to see what his role will be once they are. It most likely won’t happen, but the Bianconeri should think about it only if they could get two young rotational pieces for one.
