Mile Svilar named Serie A’s best goalkeeper for second straight year | OneFootball

Mile Svilar, the Serbia international, has been named Serie A’s best goalkeeper for the second consecutive season.

According to Glorioso 1904, the former Benfica goalkeeper collected the accolade.

With one round remaining, the 26-year-old has kept 17 clean sheets in 37 appearances. He has been central to a defence that has conceded only 31 goals, among the competition’s best records.

Svilar left the Estádio da Luz in 2022 on a free. He earned opportunities in Italy, first under José Mourinho, then firmly with Daniele De Rossi, when he displaced Rui Patrício.

Since then he has retained the first-choice role at Roma. His rise underlines a progression many believed was possible during his time at Benfica.

Beyond the individual honour, he remains focused on helping Roma secure a Champions League place. The giallorossi sit fourth in Serie A on 70 points, level with Milan, and the race for qualification remains alive.
