Militao, Carvajal ecstatic after Real Madrid 2-0 Espanyol – ‘It was a special goal’ | OneFootball

Real Madrid consolidated their place at the top of the La Liga standings with their fifth win in the competition, beating RCD Espanyol 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu today.

Two wonderstrikes from Eder Militao and Kylian Mbappe on either side of half-time secured all three points at the Santiago Bernabeu against the Catalan outfit.

Eder Militao overjoyed after golazo

Speaking to the club media after his brilliant goal helped Real Madrid win the game, Eder Militao expressed his joy at having pulled off the strike.

“It was a special goal: a shot that sometimes comes off, but this time I tried it and it came off. It’s one thing in training, but in the game everything changes. It seems easy, but it’s not,” said an ecstatic Militao.

Talking about the victory means for him and the team, the Brazilian international remarked: “It’s very valuable. Every game is different. We’re doing what the coach asks, and today’s win is very important to continue doing things well.”

The victory meant that Real Madrid now have five wins in five in La Liga and six across all competitions.

“It’s everyone’s job. There’s a united group that’s dedicated and does what the coach asks. The results have been there,” said Militao about the team’s good start to the season.

It has been a hard couple of years for the defender, having had to recover from back-to-back ACL injuries, but he seems to have recovered his confidence.

“I feel very good. I’m working every day to avoid relapses and further injuries, to continue developing and return to my level,” concluded Militao.

Meanwhile, speaking to RMTV, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal also expressed his pleasure at the way the team have started the season, saying:

“We’re happy. The team played a complete game. We didn’t struggle much defensively. We knew Espanyol had 10 points out of 12 at the start of the season, and we looked like a very organized and intense opponent.

“We’re leading the way and have accomplished our objective.”

Continuing, he added: “It couldn’t have been better. The good thing is that we’re increasingly finding the way the manager wants us to play. We’re understanding the concepts better, and the results are coming our way. It’s an idyllic start.”

Carvajal also praised the goalscorers Militao and Mbappe and the quality of their strikes, saying:

“Spectacular. The quality of these players is extremely high, and in the end, it was two shots from outside the box that decided the match.”

Concluding, the skipper gave an insight into what the manager, Xabi Alonso, asks of him and the team, saying:

“There are always defensive line, tactical, and finishing drills throughout the week. Today, everyone’s talent and shooting came into play, and thank God, it turned out well.”
