Millwall boss Alex Neil has updated on injuries suffered by Tristan Crama and Mathis Servais following the Lions’ final pre-season fixture.

Millwall defeated Belgian top-flight side Royal Antwerp 1-0 in their last friendly ahead of the new season. However they finished the game at the Den with multiple injury concerns.

Centre-back Crama was forced off at half-time with an ankle injury. The French defender has only just returned to action after suffering ligament damage to his ankle during Millwall’s play-off semi-final loss against Hull City last season.

“It wasn’t planned,” explained Neil on Crama’s withdrawal. “He sort of rocked his ankle on the far side. It might be nothing. It might be something. I’m not sure.

“It happened really early in the game. I think it was when he blocked a shot or a cross, and he sort of rolled his ankle a little bit, so he had a bit of discomfort. Played half an hour with it.

“I didn’t even know he had it until he came over. There was one time when he didn’t burst forward, which is unlike him, and I asked him how he was. So we just took a precaution and took him off at half-time.”

Meanwhile, new signing Servais was completely absent from the squad. The midfielder will now miss the start of the season.

“He’s hurt his hamstring,” the Millwall boss revealed. “He played the full game (against Bromley), he came in the next day and didn’t even know he’d done it.

“He was due to train, went to do his testing and felt a little bit of discomfort during his testing. We basically got it scanned as a precaution, because of the area where it is.

“The problem you’ve got is normally most fibres of the muscle run up and down. Most tears go across the way. His tear was linear, in terms of it goes in the same grain as the muscle. So that’s how he didn’t even know he had it.

“It won’t be several months but it certainly won’t be a couple of weeks.”
