Leicester City manager Amandine Miquel says that her side cannot take latest opponents Tottenham Hotspur for granted despite their recent poor form.

The Foxes play host to The Lilywhites at The King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Leicester City go into the game searching for a fourth consecutive home league win while Spurs have suffered six consecutive defeats in all competitions.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Leicester City boss Miquel said that nothing can be taken for granted and that the two clubs’ form can be analysed in different ways.

“It can be viewed both ways,” Miquel said. “Yes, we are in a good moment and they’re not, but it could also become a moment where we are relaxed and they’re turning things around. There’s not one way to see things, the only thing we know is that we have to prepare like we do for any other game, do our best and make sure that we have no regrets.”

Going on to discuss Spurs’ poor form further, Miquel believes that injuries to attacking players hasn’t helped their cause.

She said “I think they are trying to overcome their struggles but hopefully, that doesn’t come against us. They are trying to change things, they are trying to modify a few aspects of their game plan. They’ve also lost players [to injury] which has brought this adaptation.

“What has changed is that they are less threatening offensively than before and they are a bit more passive.

“They’re not going to let their bad form stop them, any team can wake up at any moment. We hope that it’s not against us and that we can manage this game.”

Recent results at The King Power Stadium have helped Leicester City to climb away from the relegation zone but Miquel does not expect her side to take their foot off the pedal.

She said “We are not there yet. We must not focus on that, we must focus on day-to-day training and doing our best performance both individually and collectively in the game. If we are above tenth position after the final whistle in the last game, then it will be a reward.

“It’ll also be for the players to understand that they have to do it again when they come back in July from the beginning and then there will hopefully be continuous improvement for seasons to come.”
