Mirassol sign Gustavo Mosquito after Júbilo Iwata spell | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Mirassol have announced the signing of forward Gustavo Silva, known as Gustavo Mosquito, after a spell with Júbilo Iwata in Japan.

Born in Curitiba, he came through Coritiba’s academy and later enjoyed his strongest spell at Corinthians. From 2018 to 2024 he made more than 170 appearances and scored 19, ending his deal in 2024 through the courts over delayed labour payments.

He then joined Vitória, helping the side stay in Série A and qualify for the Copa Sudamericana. Across the last two seasons with Júbilo Iwata he played 28 times, scoring eight and providing four assists.

The 28-year-old can be registered now, with the July international window opening on Monday. On arrival he said he was delighted and motivated, aware of the responsibility, and focused on adapting quickly to coach Guanaes' plans to help the team progress.

Mosquito is Mirassol’s sixth addition for the run-in, following Elias, Gabriel Knesowitsch, Japa, Fernandinho and Bruno Santos. A further deal is expected in the coming days for midfielder Gustavo Cazonatti, who was at Sporting Cristal in Peru.

Leaving the club are Igor Cariús, Rodrigues, Yuri Lara, Lucas Mugni, Tiquinho Soares, Everton Galdino and Nathan Fogaça. Mirassol are 18th in Série A with 19 points, having beaten Grêmio 2-1 last time out, and visit Vasco at São Januário on Saturday at 20:30.
