Mitchell Weiser has signed a new contract with Werder Bremen.

The club said in a statement that the 32-year-old's previous deal was due to expire this month and did not reveal the length of the extension. They said they were delighted to continue with Weiser and remained convinced of his quality, adding that he could provide creativity next season.

It is understood to be a one-year agreement.

Talks had dragged on for months as the club pushed for a heavily performance-based contract.

A cruciate ligament injury ruled Weiser out of the entire 2025-26 season, and he did not play a minute.

In recent weeks the parties moved closer to a deal, and the wing-back remains highly valued at Bremen.
