Mjällby’s fishing-village champions prepare for Champions League qualifying | OneFootball

Mjällby, surprise Swedish champions in October last year, are preparing for Champions League qualifying from a coastal community of 800 residents.

According to L'Équipe, the club play at a small seaside stadium and the setting promises a distinct change of scene.

On matchdays, about 100 volunteers staff the ticket office and the refreshment kiosks.

Getting there is described simply, fly into Copenhagen, cross the bridge into Sweden, pass Malmö, then continue straight until the sea, where Mjällby can be found.

The mood is set for a very different backdrop to Europe’s elite competition.
