After making his MLS debut in 2006, the 41-year-old went on to become a fixture in the league, spending 18 seasons in Major League Soccer.

In that time, Kamara scored 147 MLS goals, the second-most in league history behind Chris Wondolowski (173).

But, unlike Wondolowski, who spent nearly his entire career with the San Jose Earthquakes, Kamara is far from a one-club man.

Kamara played for a record 12 different MLS clubs, while also spending brief stints abroad.

"I never played for just one crest," he said in a video announcing his retirement.

"I played for the love of the game, and the places it carried me."

The Sierra Leone-born forward also made 45 appearances with the country's national team, scoring eight goals.

Kamara signed off on social media with a caption featuring his signature heart-hands celebration.
