MLS Matchweek 11 – Hooligan Predictions

Gambar artikel:MLS Matchweek 11 – Hooligan Predictions

Atlanta United FC vs. Nashville SC

May 3 @ 2:45pm – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia Broadcast nationally on FOX Nashville punched seven goals in their last game; that won’t continue this weekend. Happily for them they travel down to Atlanta, where the fans are fervent and loud, but (recently) the team has simply sucked. Not sure what is ailing the Five Stripes, but their malaise will continue through Saturday.Hooligan Take: Nashville

Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution

May 3 @ 4:30pm – BMO Field, Toronto, Canada Streaming on MLS Season Pass I was thinking: “I really can’t get too excited for this one.” I’ve been down on the Revs and their surprise win over Charlotte last week wasn’t because of excellence; they simply had a flash of brilliance and staved off the opposition. Then I studied the data and realized I might have to give New England some leeway. They’ve won four of their last five. Huh.Hooligan Take: New England Revolution

CF Montréal vs. Philadelphia Union

May 3 @ 7:30pm – Stade Saputo, Montreal, Canada Streaming on MLS Season Pass Avert your gaze to the coming bloodbath that shall descend upon Stade Saputo! Union should completely annihilate poor Montréal… or perhaps their victory over Toronto earlier in the week to give them the Canada Cup heralds a change in fortune? Nah.Hooligan Take: Philadelphia Union

Columbus Crew vs. Charlotte FC

May 3 @ 7:30pm – Lower.com Field, Columbus, Ohio Streaming on MLS Season Pass This is it. The Match of the Week. Two of the best, brightest and most creative teams in the MLS clash. I wish this was the national broadcast game. In the event anyone is curious, I like Charlotte by a one-goal margin.Hooligan Take: Charlotte FC

D.C. United vs. Colorado Rapids

May 3 @ 7:30pm – Audi Field, Washington, District of Columbia Streaming on MLS Season Pass The Rapids are on a kind-of hot-streak, having taken 8 of a possible 15 points. D.C. United, though, oof. Expect the Rapids to double-team Benteke. Expect Benteke to still score a goal. But, alas, expect that won’t be enough.Hooligan Take: Colorado Rapids

Inter Miami CF vs. New York Red Bulls

May 3 @ 7:30pm – Chase Stadium, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Streaming on MLS Season Pass While Miami have lost three straight, let’s not forget that only one of these was an MLS tie. And let’s also recall that at this same time last year, they had 5W – 3D – 2L. So while it’s too soon to sound the fire alarm on the Heron’s season, their neighbors in the Eastern Conference are MUCH stronger this year than last. The good news is that Red Bulls isn’t in that company. I think Inter will win it.Hooligan Take: Inter Miami (barely)

Austin FC vs. Minnesota United FC

May 3 @ 8:30pm – Q2 Stadium, Austin, Texas Streaming on MLS Season Pass Austin is in 5th place in the West. They have a -3 GD, and have scored one goal fewer than last place Galaxy. The last three games represent Minnesota’s worst run of form this year, but I suspect they’ll find their shooting boots and rack up some goals over Austin.Hooligan Take: Minnesota United FC

Chicago Fire FC vs. Orlando City SC

May 3 @ 8:30pm – Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois Streaming on MLS Season Pass Shock! Orlando City are undefeated these past five games. I know. Chicago are winless (albeit with two draws). I think both sides will continue this trend.Hooligan Take: Orlando City

San Diego FC vs. FC Dallas

May 3 @ 9:15pm – Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego, California Broadcast nationally on FS1 San Diego’s honeymoon start to the MLS has faded very, very fast. Three straight losses have dropped them down the table and tarnished their youthful glow. FC Dallas have steadily ground out results, and although they’re heading into a hostile atmosphere I think they’ll earn a point.Hooligan Take: Draw

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Real Salt Lake

May 3 @ 9:30pm – BC Place, Vancouver, Canada Streaming on MLS Season Pass It’s hard envisioning a scenario where Vancouver loses, but after their last 10 days of adrenaline-rushed thrills, there’s gonna be a crash. I don’t think it happens this week, though, as RSL are simply too porous in the back.Hooligan Take: Vancouver Whitecaps

LAFC vs. Houston Dynamo FC

May 3 @ 10:30pm – BMO Stadium, Los Angeles, California Streaming on MLS Season Pass Houston has managed to pull themselves up from the worst team in the West to almost the worst team… which is an improvement. To their credit, they have two wins and two draws. Any points in this fixture would be huge. LAFC are a crazily-stacked squad that just cannot find any consistency, but they should escape with three points.Hooligan Take: LAFC

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Portland Timbers

May 3 @ 10:30pm – PayPal Park, San Jose, California Streaming on MLS Season Pass I will say this about both teams: they score (and concede) LOTS of goals. Besides the TImbers’ 0 – 0 draw at Austin, both teams have seen 44 goals in their past five games. That’s 4.4 goals per game. Yowsa.Hooligan Take: Who the hell knows?

Seattle Sounders FC vs. St. Louis CITY SC

May 3 @ 10:30pm – Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington Streaming on MLS Season Pass For this fixture I’m leaning on three data points to make my call. The first, is that St. Louis is winless in their last five. The second, is that Seattle has one four of their past five head-to-head battles. The third is that Seattle is on a bit of a hot streak. Throw in home-field advantage and all signs point to a Sounders win.Hooligan Take: Seattle Sounders

New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati

May 4 @ 3:00pm – Citi Field, New York, New York Streaming on MLS Season Pass NYCFC is the Meh of Eastern Conference teams. With equal wins to losses and only a -1 GD, it never seems like they care enough to make it interesting, regardless of the result. Cincy, on the other hand, are the hottest squad in the US-side of the MLS. Their five wins have all come by a single goal margin, so they keep it close and exciting. Expect the same from this fixture: Cincy by one.Hooligan Take: FC Cincinnati

Sporting Kansas City vs. LA Galaxy

May 4 @ 7:00pm – Children’s Mercy Park, Kansas City, Kansas Streaming on MLS Season Pass You know the old adage: “They saved the best for last.”? That’s not this game. The only reason to tune in is to see how badly LA Galaxy bollocks it up.Hooligan Take: Who cares?
