An update on Santiago Gimenez’s condition has arrived from training, and it seems the striker has no chance of starting Friday’s game against Udinese.
Tammy Abraham made way for Gimenez ten minutes into the second half of the 2-2 draw against Fiorentina after suffering a knock to his knee. Then, in the 79th minute, the Mexican had to leave the pitch as well after a heavy challenge with David De Gea, which left him in pain.
Sergio Conceiçao’s side are preparing for the trip to Udinese in two days, and MilanNews have provided an update on Gimenez, who did yesterday’s session on his own after still feeling some discomfort.
The aim is to have the Mexico international at least on the bench on Friday evening at the Bluenergy Stadium, implying that he will not be fit enough to start. Abraham or Luka Jovic should therefore get the nod instead.
Gimenez started his time at Milan well after joining in the winter window, scoring against Empoli, Verona and Feyenoord in his first few appearances. Since then he has struggled, going without a goal for eight games, while the resurgence of Abraham and Jovic has left him as the third choice option.
