Liverpool are currently without Mohamed Salah with the winger away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian King went off on international duty with a storm left in his wake at Anfield. He accused the club of throwing him under a bus and declared his relationship with Arne Slot non-existent in an interview following the Leeds game last month.

Salah, 33, was subsequently dropped from the squad for the Champions League game at Inter before making a return to the bench for the Premier League match against Brighton.

Liverpool and Salah have been able to get some cooling off time in the period since that game - but Salah’s future remains uncertain.

Salah's agents trying to secure exit

Under contract until 2027 the record-breaking forward could end up leaving in 2026 if the Reds receive the right offer. But talk in recent days has centred around an unlikely loan move this January for the two-time African player of the year.

He was linked with a loan move to former club Roma - who were said to be put off by his excessive wage demands of £400k per week.

And now it’s been claimed that Salah has been OFFERED to Real Madrid on a six-month loan deal as Los Blancos attempt to cope with the loss of Kylian Mbappe.

The French talisman is expected to be absent for a few weeks and Defensa Central states that Salah’s entourage gave Madrid the chance to swoop for their client in the January window.

Madrid won't pay £10m for Salah loan

“Once Mbappé's injury became known, Salah emerged as an alternative in recent days,” the report reads.

“The Egyptian striker's agents are offering him to clubs across Europe for a January transfer. Roma were the latest to make an offer, but Real Madrid were also approached.”

The report also claims that Salah’s people are actively working on a Liverpool exit with the player away with Egypt at Afcon.

“Salah is under contract with Liverpool until 2027, but they are exploring options to find him a way out,” the report reads.

“They are aware that selling him mid-season could be difficult, but they do see a loan move as feasible.”

Salah won’t be moving to Real however with it being decided at the Bernabeu that £10m in wages was too much to pay for a six-month spell.

His future remains unsolved and Liverpool will be welcoming him back amid much uncertainty once Egypt’s Afcon participation is at an end.
