It is fair to say that Liverpool have had some brilliant players lining up for the club over the years. The Reds have been blessed with some of the best players ever to play the game lining up for the home team at Anfield, with the Kop more than happy to sing their praises whenever possible.
In the future, when the dust on his Liverpool career has settled down, there will be a conversation to be had around the idea that Mohamed Salah might well be one of the best of the lot. Yes, the upturn in our fortunes certainly coincided with the arrival of Jürgen Klopp, but Salah was also instrumental in bringing glory back home.

The Mo Salah song is all about showing love to a player that those of us who saw him live will consider ourselves fortunate to have done so. The song that reveres the ‘Egyptian King’ wasn’t actually the first one to take off with the Kop choir, with another one being interesting enough to cause some headlines when it was initially sung. That was the one that was sung to the tune of Good Enough by Dodgy and included the lyrics “If he’s good enough for you, he’s good enough for me. If he scores another few, then I’ll be Muslim too.”
It is pretty easy to understand why the press fell in love with that version in a predominantly Christian country.
Whilst that one was funny and eye-catching (or should that be ear-catching?) it isn’t the one that Liverpool supporters ended up belting out on a regular basis. Instead, a simpler version came to the fore, which has long been used to add to the atmosphere at Anfield, even after Salah’s decision to depart the club in the summer of 2026. His song is sung to the tune of Sit Down by James, with the following being the words that the supporters chose to sing:
Mo Salah, Mo Salah, Mo Salah!
Running down the wing.
Salah la la la la la la la:
The Egyptian King!
(Repeat)
