Liverpool will be kicking off the 2026/27 season without Mohamed Salah in their ranks.

The Egyptian King, 33, is bringing the curtain down on a glorious spell at Anfield - having reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.

There has been much speculation about where Salah goes next - with European interest said to be represented by Juventus and Fenerbahce.

However the Saudi Pro League has always loomed in the background as the likeliest destination.

Al-Ittihad tried to sign the left-footed forward while he was under contract at Liverpool back in 2023. The Reds knocked back that bid and it was reported earlier this year that Al-Ittihad had drawn up a contract worth around £1.67m per week for Salah.

Now the two-time African footballer of the year has AGREED to move to the Saudi Pro League according to a report in the Marib Press.

Salah's three conditions for Saudi move

But Salah has got conditions for moving to the SPL - and they are as follows:

Mohamed Salah has given his initial approval to pursue a professional career in the Saudi League, but only under a set of conditions that he considers necessary to complete the deal,” the report reads.

“The captain of the Egyptian national team received an offer to join one of the Saudi league clubs, but the financial compensation offered was less than the offer he had previously received before renewing his contract with Liverpool FC.

“Salah stipulated receiving an annual salary and financial benefits commensurate with his status and marketing value, in addition to signing a contract that extends for two or three seasons to ensure stability in the next stage of his career.

“The Egyptian star also set a third condition, which is to move to a club that has a sporting project capable of competing for major titles and championships, and not just participating.”
