Mo Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of his season. His next destination is one of the biggest stories going - and there's a favourite.
Mo Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign, ending his contract one year early. It's not the world's biggest surprise, admittedly, but one that hits hard nonetheless.
The particularly interesting thing, though, is that it's a mutual termination. Certain clubs (Saudi Arabian ones) would almost certainly pay a decent fee for Salah - so why terminate the deal?
Perhaps it's because Salah doesn't want to go there and this was the only way to part. Or maybe that large offer simply wasn't on the way.
Because, apparently, Salah is more likely to head to the Saudi Pro league than anywhere else. That's according to the Telegraph, who report that Al-Hilal are the side most likely to land him.
And that's a surprise. Al-Ittihad were thought to be the favourites by many, given Karim Benzema left a gaping hole in their attack by leaving for Al-Hilal this year.
Instead, it looks like the pair may play together, forming a bit of a super team. Al-Hilal are already the best team in the Middle East - adding Salah would form an incredibly special side.
Mohamed Salah: Final Season Update
As of 26 March 2026, Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season. Despite a contract running until 2027, he reached a mutual agreement with the club to depart this summer, ending a historic nine-year tenure at Anfield.
Future Plans and Saudi Interest
Al-Ittihad or Al-Hilal remain the primary suitors, with reports suggesting a record-breaking contract offer to make him the marquee face of the Saudi Pro League. While MLS clubs have also expressed interest, the move to Saudi Arabia is seen as the most likely outcome for the 33-year-old forward.
Injury Status
Salah is currently recovering from a muscle injury sustained during the Champions League victory over Galatasaray. He is working toward a return for the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on 4 April. Despite a dip in his usual scoring rate, he has still contributed 10 goals and 9 assists in 34 appearances this season.
