Modric extension with Milan imminent after contract signing | OneFootball

Thursday’s reports claim that Luka Modric has already put pen to paper on his new Milan contract, and now all that is missing is a formal confirmation from the club.

Milan could announce Modric contract by the end of the day

Modric, who will turn 41 in September, has already put his signature on a one-year contract extension with wages reported to be worth €3.5m (net) plus bonuses according to TMW. An official announcement from the club could even arrive by the end of the afternoon.

Modric originally joined Milan in the summer of 2025, signing an initial one-year contract with an option to extend.

Though he surpassed expectations on an individual level during his first year in San Siro, it was an ultimately disappointing end to the season on a collective level, as Milan stumbled out of the top four, finished in fifth on the final week of the season and missed out on Champions League football.

This led to the departures of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani the day after the season ended.

There had been concerns that a number of Milan’s star players could also decide to leave the club this summer, including Modric, who had been weighing up whether or not to continue playing in 2026-27.

There had been suggestions that there could be a backroom role on offer to him at his former club, Real Madrid.

However, Modric hass since decided to carry on playing for another year and to stay put in Milan, where he and his teammates will be looking to cement Champions League qualification under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
