Liverpool’s search for a Mohamed Salah replacement is taking in all possibilities.

Salah’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and there are plenty of links to a move to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere in Europe.

It’s clear that Salah loves playing for the club and wants to keep breaking records and winning trophies in a city his family enjoy living in.

However, FSG’s financial strategy means that Salah could find himself walking away from Anfield in just over six months time.

Omar Marmoush has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool as a potential Salah replacement. He’s one of the only forwards in European football that can hold a candle to the Liverpool legend this season in terms of pure numbers, and Salah himself has even spoken out about his talent amid the transfer speculation.

Another option for the long-term Salah replacement is a young player currently out on loan away from the Reds.

Andros Townsend: I've never seen a winger able to do what Ben Doak does

Ben Doak has been in electric form this season at Middlesborough, earning plaudits for his ability on the ball and creativity in attack.

Now Andros Townsend, a former Premier League winger himself, has revealed that Doak is doing things he’s never seen.

“He was brilliant, so fearless,” Townsend said of Doak’s recent performance against Croatia on the BBC’sThe Monday Night Club. “We’re talking about Gvardiol and he was just running at him, taking him on, doing tricks.”

“But the thing that impressed me most as a winger myself, is he can dribble with both feet, so you don’t know what he’s going to do.

“Most wingers now have a competitive weaker foot, but I’ve never seen a winger be able to dribble with both feet. So he can dribble with his right foot or he can make that nice angle with his left foot and come inside and get shots off."

Doak seems well-placed to return to Liverpool next season and fight for a place in the first-team squad.

He still lacks the pure attacking returns to be the first choice replacement for Salah, but at only 19, still has plenty of time to develop. Salah himself was still playing in Egypt at the same age, so in a sense Doak is ahead of where he should be.

Let's enjoy his brilliant form and hope it can last.
