Kudus was sent off after clashing with Spurs players on October 19

Mohammed Kudus has been hit with an additional two-match ban and fined £60,000 for his part in a brawl between West Ham and Tottenham players in October.

In an incident in the 87th minute, Kudus kicked out at Micky van de Ven when the Spurs player was on the floor, before shoving the Dutchman in the face after he had squared up to him. Kudus shoved Pape Matar Sarr.

Both Kudus and Van de Ven were originally shown yellow cards, but after a VAR check the West Ham forward saw his booking upgraded to a red card.

A statement from the FA read: “West Ham United and Mohammed Kudus have been sanctioned in relation to incidents during their Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 19 October.

“It was alleged that the club failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way around the 82nd minute. West Ham United admitted to this charge, and an independent Regulatory Commission subsequently fined the club £30,000.

“It was also alleged that Mohammed Kudus acted in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct after the offence that he was sent off for. The forward admitted to this charge, and he has been given a two-match suspension and £60,000 fine by the Regulatory Commission.”

The FA also published the written reasons for the retrospective action, in which Andy Madley wrote his recount of the event.

Madley wrote that reviewing footage of the shove on Ven de Ven was “sufficient” to show Kudus a red card, adding that he “would have sent Mr Kudus off for violent conduct” if he observed the second shove on Sarr first hand.

In a brief statement on their official website, West Ham wrote: “Whilst the Club is disappointed with the outcome, it respects the process that has been undertaken.”
