With goals in Nantes and then in Reims, the Ghanaian defender spoke at a press conference on the eve of the trip to Montpellier.
Having started eight times this season, Mohammed Salisu has impressed in the last two games of the Rouge et Blanc, scoring two goals, first against Nantes and then Reims. Even though the Monegasques were eliminated from the Coupe de France, the Ghanaian defender now wants to regain confidence in Ligue 1. This is what he spoke about with the media, on the eve of the trip to Montpellier (kick-off 7 p.m.). 🎙️
The match against Montpellier
I think this is the right match to motivate the whole team just before the Champions League. It is a very important match to get an energy boost and regain confidence in order to best prepare for the match against Aston Villa. We believe in ourselves and we want to take the three points.
Our game depends above all on us and the energy we put into our play, we don't think about the opponent in front of us, we focus first on ourselves as a team. We apply what the coach teaches us in training, but that's football, you can't predict anything in advance.
We have no doubts, football is about ups and downs depending on the period. We are currently in a bad moment and we have to fight to get back to the top. The season had started very well and we were in good form, we just need to believe in what we are doing on the pitch and listen to the coach’s tactical advice to get back to our level.
I am happy to have scored in the last two games even if they were two disappointing games in terms of results. We must continue to fight. As you have seen in the last few games, we have created several chances.
Each game is different, sometimes the chances can be easier than others. We continue to believe in our attackers, it is a difficult time for the team but I think the goals will come. It is time for us to do better to put the attackers in a better position, so that they can regain confidence.
Most teams go through this kind of situation, the question is how to come back well, how to get out of this situation. We have to quickly get back to basics, win matches, adopt the right mentality on the pitch and be sure to give everything in each match. Elimination from the Coupe de France awas very disappointing because the team has set very high goals for itself.
We have a very young team and it is very important to talk to these young players, we always try to motivate them even in difficult moments. They need to learn every day, it will get better over time. Everyone is disappointed at the Club because we have not won for five games, but the team does not depend only on them. We must stay united all together and look for victory tomorrow.
