Influential midfielder has committed to the club for the next seven years
The Ecuador midfielder penned a contract extension in April which saw him commit his future to the Blues until June 2033.
The lucrative new deal, which came with a pay rise for the 24-year-old, came shortly after captain Reece James also signed an extension, but amid a miserable losing run for the club.
Chelsea have lost their last six Premier League matches, and scored one goal along the way, which has ended their hopes of a top-five finish and, with it, Champions League qualification.
Interim manager Calum McFarlane has guided Chelsea into the FA Cup final, which is the club’s final chance to win a trophy during a disappointing season.
However, Caicedo is sure the Blues will be back at the summit of English football before long.
In an interview with TNT Sports ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off away to Liverpool at Anfield, Caicedo was asked why he had committed his future to the Blues.
“Because I believe that in this thing we can do a lot of things together,” he explained.
“So it makes me sign a new contract here. I am convinced that we are not in a very good moment, but I am convinced we are going to come back and we are going to put [ourselves back] where Chelsea belong.”
The midfielder continued: “I am so convinced. I’m not going to change, because, for sure, the only way to do that is believing. And that’s it.”
Since joining from Brighton in the summer of 2023, Caicedo has made 144 appearances for Chelsea.
