Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo (24) has agreed a new long-term contract that will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2033, BBC Sport has reported.
The 24-year-old Ecuador international had been pushing for improved terms after establishing himself as one of the club’s most important players. Caicedo has been a key figure in Chelsea’s recent success, helping them win both the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup last season, and is now regarded internally as one of the best midfielders in the world.
Caicedo originally joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2023 in a deal worth an initial £100m, rising to £115m, which at the time was a British transfer record. His previous contract was an eight-year agreement, but the new deal is understood to be significantly improved and reflects his growing influence within the squad.
The agreement forms part of Chelsea’s wider strategy of renewing key players on incentive-based contracts, rewarding top performances and targets such as Champions League qualification. Captain Reece James has already signed a new deal, while further renewals are expected before the end of the season.
Caicedo has been ever-present once again this campaign, making 42 appearances and scoring five goals from a defensive midfield role. He is also part of Chelsea’s leadership group and has made clear his commitment to the club, recently stating he wants “to be a legend”.
Chelsea, currently sixth in the Premier League, face Manchester United next as they continue their push for a return to the Champions League.
