Mika Biereth (22) came in and had a big impact at AS Monaco. Following his €13m move from Sturm Graz in January, he netted 13 goals, including three consecutive hat-tricks in league games at the Stade Louis II.
Naturally, his performances have caught the eye. L’Équipe reported last week that an unnamed club had said that they were willing to pay €35m to acquire Biereth’s services. However, as far as Monaco are concerned, he is not for sale, as revealed by the club’s CEO, Thiago Scuro. “It was one of the best decisions we made [this season],” admitted Scuro in an interview attended by Get French Football News.
He added, “It looks like he is here for many years. The door is closed (for a departure).” The future is not so certain for his strike partner, Breel Embolo, with whom a strong partnership has been struck. The Swiss international’s current deal expires at the end of next season.
“Let’s see what happens this summer. He has had a good combination with Biereth. We have been talking [about an extension] since last year. Let’s see how the summer goes; he still has a contract. He could extend, or he could leave,” added Scuro.
