Simon Adingra is set to return to Sunderland after Monaco opted against activating a permanent option in his loan, according to Nice-Matin.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion player joined last summer, scoring one goal and providing one assist in 15 appearances before heading to Monaco in January. The report also stated Monaco will not take up an option on fellow loanee Wout Faes.
The Ivory Coast winger is due back on Wearside after this summer’s World Cup finals, with a decision over his long-term future to follow.
Elsewhere, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande continues to be linked with Liverpool. “During negotiations with Leipzig, things also became very concrete with Sunderland. However, they didn’t want to trigger the release clause,” said agent Wolfgang Meier, he told Sky Sports. The 19-year-old delivered 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances last season, prompting talk of a fee over £100m.
Goalkeeper Matty Young will return from another productive stint with Salford City. The 19-year-old kept 16 clean sheets in 50 appearances last season after earlier experience with Darlington, and having signed a long-term deal last month, he is expected to head out on loan again next season.
