Monchi is plotting a sweeping rebuild at Espanyol after securing survival, with an aggressive window and more than six signings on the table.

According to Superdeporte, he expects a forceful market and accepts that departures will be needed to create room on the wage bill. With 27 players under contract, he said additions will require either talks with Tebas or a reshaped squad. He added that sales have to happen if the club are to raise the salary limit, while noting that completing them is not guaranteed.

His long-term model centres on being a development and selling club, with academy players featuring in the first team. The plan is to recruit low-cost signings who add on the pitch, then sell to generate profit and reinvest, while competing for young and out-of-contract players.

He also foresees activity in every area of the squad, suggesting that six arrivals and six exits would be a conservative estimate.

The push follows a volatile season under Manolo González, when Espanyol impressed in the first half but slumped in the second and had to fight for safety. Backed by investment, the club now aim to refresh the squad.
