The 2026 MLS season has officially witnessed its first managerial casualty, with CF Montréal officially parting ways with head coach Marco Donadel after a 1-6-0 start.

In a brief official club statement, Managing Director Luca Saputo announced that Marco Donadel was relieved of his head coaching duties effective immediately, with Philippe Eullaffroy taking on head coaching responsibilities until a permanent hire could be made.

Assistants Jacopo Falanga and Lorenzo Pinzauti were also dismissed alongside Donadel.

Donadel (42) previously spent three years with the club between 2015 and 2018 in a playing capacity at the end of his career, before returning as assistant coach for the 2025 season under Laurent Courtois.

Courtois, ironically, was the first manager sacked during the 2025 campaign after a winless start at Saputo Stadium, with Donadel replacing him officially in October of that year.

In a separate statement after confirming Donadel's departure, Montréal's leadership (Gabriel Gervais, Luca Saputo, and Simone Saputo) released a separate statement taking responsibility for the club's current plight.

"We have not met the standards we set for ourselves, nor those you have the right to expect. That is why we felt the need to communicate with you directly today," the statement read.

"We share your dissatisfaction with the Club's results, and it is our responsibility to build a winning team that we can all be proud of."
