Monza attempting to secure deal for Man City winger previously wanted by Roma | OneFootball

Reports in Italy claim that newly-promoted Monza are hoping to pull off a deal for Manchester City winger Claudio Echeverri, who had previously been linked with a move to Roma during the 2025 summer transfer window.

Monza keen to sign Man City winger Echeverri

Monza finished the Serie B season in third place and won promotion via the play-offs at the end of May, securing a return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

They are already plotting moves ahead of their return to Serie A action, and according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia, 20-year-old Echeverri is among the targets.

Echeverri is a player well known to Monza’s sporting director Nicolas Burdisso, who is Argentine himself and spent the vast majority of his playing career in Serie A with Inter, Roma, Genoa and Torino.

This is not the first time that Echeverri has been linked with a potential move to Italy. Last summer, it was Roma who were reportedly trying to bring him over from Man City when Gian Piero Gasperini was looking to bring in more attacking reinforcements towards the end of the transfer window.

Last summer, it was reported that City were unwilling to let Echeverri leave the club on a permanent basis, which did not help Roma’s attempts .In the end, the Argentine ended up joining Bayer Leverkusen on loan, before being sent out to City’s partner club Girona in LaLiga for the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.

Echeverri made just six appearances in the Bundesliga during the first half of last season, but went on to make 17 in LaLiga from January onwards, providing one goal and one assist in Spain.
