Monza are reportedly interested in Manuel Lazzari, who appears to be on his way out of Lazio after seven years of service.

Manuel Lazzari Expected to Leave Lazio

The 32-year-old was a key player in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system, which heavily relied on wing-backs, but often played as a backup to Adam Marusic in Maurizio Sarri’s four-man backline. This season, he only made 23 appearances in Serie A, only nine as a starter.

Despite the managerial change, Lazzari isn’t expected to be a part of Gennaro Gattuso’s squad for next season. Lazio have already renewed Marusic’s contract, while Romano Floriani Mussolini, who will return from a loan spell at Cremonese, is expected to act as the Montenegrin’s understudy, rendering Lazzari surplus to requirements.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Monza have recognized the opportunity to recruit the experienced right-back. The Biancorossi have succeeded in their promotion bid after beating Catanzaro in the final of the Serie B playoffs.

The Lombardians are thus eyeing important reinforcements ahead of their return to the top flight. And like fellow promoted club Venezia, who signed Toma Basic on a free transfer, Monza have turned to Lazio, identifying Lazzari as the right profile thanks to his vast Serie A experience and ability to add quality to the squad.

Lazzri’s Summer Plans

Lazzari’s contract with Lazio will expire in June 2027, so he should be available for a modest transfer fee. The former SPAL player could bide his time, waiting for more offers to arrive before making a final decision.
