Sheffield Wednesday face restrictions in 2026/27 under David Storch and the mood at Hillsborough has been revealed as talks continue...
Sheffield Wednesday fans are desperate for positive news regarding David Storch and Sheffield Wednesday, with the Owls moving in the right direction regarding the takeover.
Following James Bord's collapsed bid, David Storch and Mike Ashley emerged as the frontrunners for a takeover of Wednesday before the end of the 2025/26 campaign. However, in the end, Storch outbid Ashley by a large margin.
There are still obstacles to overcome, with Storch having a £41 million stumbling block in his way already. But things appear to be on track and moving towards a resolution for the club with just one league victory all season.
After defeat to Hull City on Saturday, Sheffield Wednesday are facing the idea of finishing on minus points this season. They sit on -6 with seven games left to play. It's why they are desperate for news that their long-term future could be in better hands.

There have been positive talks between Storch, the EFL, and Independent Regulator over the last week. Bord failed to get going in this respect, but there is more Storch has to get through.
A timeline has emerged regarding finalising a deal for the club, with May 1st seen as a key date for Wednesday and Storch. That is a little over a month away for the consortium, with plenty left to do.
In fact, Storch is currently undergoing the EFL's Owners' and Directors' Test, which could determine whether he can complete his Owls takeover in the coming weeks.
But there are other things to iron out for the immediate takeover but also for next season as well. For example, one aspect has already been resolved, with Wednesday hit with a wage cap for the 2026/27 season in League One.
Rob Staton of BBC Sheffield has provided the latest on the situation. He states that talks continued through the week between Sheffield Wednesday's administrators, Arise Capital and the EFL.
Not only that, but they were further discussing the spending restrictions for next season on top of the Sheffield Wednesday wage restrictions. He adds that, at this stage, all parties seem to feel positive about those talks.

After a period of long-term uncertainty, Owls supporters will hope that Storch's timescale wish comes true as the club look to start rebuilding from next season. For supporters of Sheffield Wednesday, Storch’s proposed takeover cannot come soon enough now.
After a demoralising relegation to League One, the club is crying out for clarity, direction, and renewed ambition. The cloud of Dejphon Chansiri hangs over them and uncertainty at ownership level only prolongs instability, making it harder to recruit players, retain key staff, and rebuild morale among fans.
A swift takeover would allow proper planning for 2026/27, giving the club a head start in shaping both the squad and the football structure behind the scenes. Given that they will start on -15 next season, it's absolutely imperative to hit the ground running next season.
It will provide some much-needed positivity to cling to, just as importantly. It would offer supporters a sense of hope — something that has been in short supply. With decisive leadership in place, Wednesday could reset, stabilise, and begin building a team capable of mounting a promotion push.
The sooner this is complete, the sooner they can start working on building a team — both on and off the pitch.
