Alvaro Morata was taken to hospital for precautionary tests after the Rossoneri striker suffered a blow to the head during Milan’s training session on Thursday, ahead of the team’s visit to Cagliari in Serie A on Saturday.
The Spain international is expected to be ruled out of the Cagliari match as a result of the incident.
According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, Morata suffered an injury to his head after a collision in training with centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic.
As is customary for head injuries, he was taken to the nearest hospital for further assessments. The 32-year-old went in for an MRI scan, which came back negative, but Morata is expected to stay in for observation for a few hours and will miss the trip to Cagliari as a result.
Morata, who joined Milan from Atletico Madrid in the summer, was one of the stars of the show as Milan recorded an emphatic 3-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
He was on hand to turn in Milan’s second goal of the night after Rafael Leao’s initial shot was parried back into the danger area by Andriy Lunin.
The Spaniard’s strike was his first in the Champions League this season, and his third in competitive action for Milan after two goals in eight appearances in Serie A.
