Morocco coach heaps praise on Real Madrid ace amid top performance in AFCON | OneFootball

Brahim Diaz is the name on everyone’s lips right now in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, especially after his stellar performance for Morocco in the opening game.

The Real Madrid star helped Morocco secure a 2-0 win over Comoros in the first match, notably scoring the opener. He scored another goal in the second game, in the 1-1 draw with Mali.

In addition to scoring two goals, he has won two penalties for his team, making him one of the star performers of the tournament so far.

Morocco coach praises Brahim Diaz

In light of his brilliant performances in the tournament, Brahim Diaz received praise from Morocco’s manager Walid Regragui.

Speaking ahead of Morocco’s group game against Zambia, Regragui praised the Real Madrid star’s overall game.

“Brahim is in good form and understands what is expected of him because he is a key player. In the final third of the field, he is very effective for us. He is defending a lot, making more runs, and is always available for the team,” he said (h/t MARCA).

Brahim has indeed been an asset for Morocco ever since he decided to represent the North African nation ahead of Spain.

Although expectations have been high, Regragui believes Brahim is living up to them and has done well for his team so far.

“I’m very happy for him. He’s been heavily criticised because expectations are high, but he’s in the right frame of mind,” he added.

Regragui was also asked about his decision to sub off Brahim against Mali with 20 minutes left to play. In response, the coach said, “We are managing it intelligently, with one goal in mind: to win the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Brahim Diaz’s performances in the Africa Cup of Nations have not gone unnoticed, with the Real Madrid star reportedly on the radar of at least four European teams, including Tottenham Hotspur.
