Even though the upcoming presidential elections are holding things up, Real Madrid are making some important moves in the transfer market.
As reported earlier today, Ibrahima Konate has a preliminary agreement to join Los Blancos as a free agent in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the Spanish capital giants also intend to close the signing of Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries along with Konate before the 2026 FIFA World Cup stars.
Indeed, according to AS, the leading candidate to replace Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid appears to be Dumfries.

Dumfries, who recently turned 30, is highly regarded for his experience, versatility and relatively affordable price. While Tottenham’s Pedro Porro has also been linked with the club, he is considered a far more expensive and complicated option.
Furthermore, incoming manager Jose Mourinho has already been consulted about the possibility of signing the Netherlands international and has approved the move.
The Portuguese coach knows the player well from years of following elite European football and is said to appreciate the improvements the 30-year-old has made defensively while playing in Serie A.
Dumfries has a release clause of €25 million, a figure viewed as highly attractive for a player who is a regular starter for one of Europe’s top clubs in Inter Milan as well as the Netherlands national team.

The report adds that those within Real Madrid value his professionalism, discipline and ability to adapt to demanding tactical systems.
Although he does not fit the profile of some of Real Madrid’s recent younger signings, he aligns closely with Mourinho’s preference for players capable of delivering immediate results rather than purely long-term potential.
Any move, however, remains dependent on the outcome of the presidential elections. The incoming president will ultimately decide whether to proceed with the transfer once the electoral process is concluded.
