Mourinho calls up Gonçalo Oliveira for Benfica v Braga, debut remains possible | OneFootball

Benfica host Braga on Monday, 11 May, in the penultimate and 33rd round of the Liga Portugal Betclic at Estádio da Luz. José Mourinho has drafted in centre-back Gonçalo Oliveira to cover for the suspended Nicolás Otamendi.

According to Glorioso 1904, Oliveira is still awaiting his first-team debut and will start on the bench. Mourinho said in his pre-match briefing that Tomás Araújo and António Silva will begin at centre-back.

On Benfica’s recent trip to Arouca, after António Silva went off injured and with Otamendi unavailable through fitness issues, Mourinho had Oliveira among the substitutes but chose to drop Ríos into defence.

This season for Benfica, Oliveira, valued at two million euros, has made 32 official appearances, 23 in the Liga Portugal Meu Super and nine in the UEFA Youth League. He has played 3,182 minutes, scoring four goals and supplying two assists.

Kick-off against Carlos Vicens’s side is at 20:15.
