José Mourinho is close to being officially confirmed as Real Madrid head coach, but his return to the Bernabéu will not be immediate.

According to Superdeporte, the club plan to announce the agreement soon, with his public presentation delayed for several weeks and scheduled closer to the start of pre-season.

That approach creates an unusual gap between the formal announcement and the unveiling. After confirmation, Mourinho is expected to step out of the spotlight, then reappear in July to begin work.

With the season over and no immediate commitments, the club see no urgency to stage the event, giving the Portuguese a period of calm before his new stint in the dugout.

Real Madrid’s pre-season begins on 13 July, so his first media appearance is expected a few days beforehand. Until then he will be the club’s head coach without a public presentation.

The return will come in two stages, the official announcement first, followed by a later presentation that will signal the start of his new adventure.
