José Mourinho criticised the state of Portuguese football after Benfica’s 2-2 draw at Famalicão, a match overshadowed by controversies involving the officiating team led by Gustavo Correia. According to Glorioso 1904, he said the game said a lot about this season as it nears its end.
Benfica dropped two points as Andreas Schjelderup and Richard Ríos put them in front, before the hosts levelled in the second half.
He also offered congratulations to Porto, describing them as deserving champions. Porto later sealed the title with a 1-0 win over Alverca at Estádio do Dragão.
Mourinho praised his players for their bravery to this point, highlighting their effort on the night.
Looking ahead, he said Benfica will throw everything at the push to finish second ahead of Sporting, adding that he thinks they can achieve it. Their final two league games are at home to Braga at Estádio da Luz, then away to Estoril on the last day.
