Florentino Pérez has been re-elected as Real Madrid president after winning the club's first contested election in nearly two decades.
The 79-year-old secured 65% of the vote, collecting 21,741 ballots to defeat challenger Enrique Riquelme, who received 11,814 votes. The result means Pérez will remain in charge of the Spanish giants until at least 2030.
A key promise of Pérez's campaign was the return of José Mourinho as head coach. The Portuguese manager, who previously led Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, is now expected to begin a new chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu after leaving Benfica.
Pérez also pledged to strengthen the squad significantly, having already announced the arrivals of Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries, while hinting at a major attacking signing worth more than €150 million.
The veteran president has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club's history, winning multiple LaLiga and Champions League titles.
