Mourinho ‘to oversee’ Real Madrid clear-out, with Rodrygo leading summer departures | OneFootball

José Mourinho returns to Real Madrid to reset a dressing room that unravelled this season. Florentino Pérez sees him as the hard fix. His comeback requires a €15 million payment to Benfica.

This was a chaotic campaign, from the Valverde and Tchouaméni bust-up to Vinícius’s whims and Mbappé travelling while injured with Ester Expósito. Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa failed to connect with a group that seized the dressing room. SPORT reports that Madrid already have a summer discard list.

Rodrygo tops it. The 25-year-old is recovering from a serious knee injury, likely sidelining him until late in the year, which makes a move complex. Once coveted, his valuation has fallen from €110 million to €45 million.

Dani Ceballos is another possible departure. With one year left on his deal, he knows he must leave to play and Real Betis are among those monitoring him. He has not regained the importance he enjoyed during that Champions League run under Zidane.

Eduardo Camavinga and Asencio have also been hit by the club’s downturn. Camavinga has not matched early expectations, injuries have interrupted him and he has missed out on the World Cup with France, leaving it unclear who might bid. Asencio has faded after covering in defence, renewed until 2031, and Konaté’s arrival blocks him.

Franco Mastantuono has fallen well short of expectations. Given his age and the long-term investment, a loan is viewed as the best path. If he stays, his chances of minutes next season look slim.
