Everton manager David Moyes admitted he was disappointed after his side were held to a 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium tonight.

The Toffees broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. Michael Keane rose well inside the box and powered a header beyond Alphonse Areola to give his side the lead.

Everton failed to turn their dominance into further goals. That lack of ruthlessness came back to haunt them as West Ham fought their way back into the contest.

The visitors equalised midway through the second half through Jarrod Bowen. Everton struggled to regain their earlier momentum and were unable to score a winner.

Moyes frustrated with missed chances

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Moyes admitted the draw felt like a missed opportunity for his team.

“Disappointed we didn’t take all three points,” he said. “It’s a home game, an opportunity for us.”

“We had moments where we should have pressed the button a bit more and got the second goal. We opened ourselves up for counter attacks.

“The decision-making in the final third – can you make the right pass or cross to get the finish away? We didn’t get that right.”

“We had a lot of the ball, we scored a good goal from a cross, but couldn’t find a way of making the second goal.”

Everton are ninth in the Premier League table, with eight points from their opening six matches of the campaign.
