Muricy Ramalho will return to work at the World Cup, taking a seat as a pundit on SBT’s coverage. The former Flamengo head coach is famed for a hard-work mantra.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Ramalho will serve as a commentator for SBT during the tournament, which begins on Thursday 11, and the broadcaster will air the competition. He is expected to feature on all Brazil matches that SBT shows.
He joins a line-up that already includes Galvão Bueno, Tiago Leifert, Alexandre Pato, Mauro Beting, Mauro Naves, Raphael Rezende and Nadine Bastos.
The role is not new to him. He previously worked for Grupo Globo, including alongside Galvão Bueno, on live games and round-table debates.
Ramalho had been out of club roles since January, when he asked to leave the position of technical coordinator at São Paulo.
He had a short spell at Flamengo in 2015 under Eduardo Bandeira de Mello’s leadership as the club sought progress during an early phase of financial restructuring. He oversaw 25 matches, with 13 wins, six draws and six defeats, as the team scored 40 and conceded 17, before stepping aside due to heart problems.
